IKEA Vanity

As we make progress in our garden unit, installing the vanity has been an exciting milestone. It's the piece that truly transforms the space into a functional bathroom. When it comes to choosing a vanity, IKEA stands out from the rest. Their vanities offer unique plumbing configurations that provide extra-deep drawers and efficient organization options.

In our master bathroom, we have the GODMORGON vanity, and we're extremely satisfied with its quality and functionality. So, it was an easy decision to opt for an IKEA vanity for our garden unit as well. We chose the HEMNES model in gray, which boasts a color washed effect that beautifully contrasts with the white walls.

Installing the IKEA vanity is a breeze. The cabinet base attaches to the wall with adjustable anchor points, and the front legs help support the sink and backsplash combo. We used clear silicone caulk to secure the sink in place, and after 24 hours of curing, we applied white silicone to seal the seam between the sink and the wall.

One of the standout features of IKEA vanities is the unique waste line and p-trap design. This design allows for full-length and deep drawers, maximizing storage space in small bathrooms like ours. Additionally, the included plumbing kit simplifies the installation process, eliminating the need for complicated measurements and cuts.

To install the faucet, we started by dropping it onto the sink surface and then threaded in the overflow elbow and trim ring. IKEA vanities are compatible with any brand of faucet, and a rubberized key tool is included to ensure a snug fit.

Before making any cuts, we did a dry fit and measured to ensure the plumbing would line up perfectly. Once marked, we used a rotary tool with a plastic cutting disc to make clean and precise cuts. But don't worry if you don't have a rotary tool, as nearly any saw or serrated blade would do the job. Just make sure to sand down any rough edges for a watertight seal.

Assembling the IKEA vanity is a straightforward process, thanks to the clear instructions provided. With a small serrated blade and a little patience, anyone can complete this task. The slim profile of the vanity allows the waste lines to fit snugly against the sink and the wall, creating extra drawer space for convenient and organized storage.

With the supply lines and waste line connected, it's time for the ultimate test. We let the water run for a few minutes to check for leaks. Rest assured, our IKEA vanity passed with flying colors, proving its durability and reliability.

To add a personal touch, we replaced the small plastic knobs that came with the vanity. Instead, we opted for classic bin pulls, giving the vanity a timeless look. We also added a brass toilet paper holder from Etsy, which complements the overall aesthetic of the bathroom.

Now that our bathroom is fully functional, having a proper place to wash our hands is incredibly convenient. It also helps maintain the cleanliness of our freshly painted walls and door knobs. The bathroom is almost complete, and with a few finishing touches, we'll be ready to reveal the final transformation.

With IKEA vanities, you not only get a stylish and functional piece of furniture, but also the peace of mind that comes with a reliable and easy installation process. So, if you're looking to upgrade your bathroom, consider an IKEA vanity to make a statement.
