Tucking Minnie into her usual bed at home, she still looks so small despite being surrounded by her army of stuffed animals. But when it comes to sleeping in a travel cot, she suddenly transforms into the Incredible Hulk, about to burst through the sides. As a concerned parent, I was on the lookout for a more suitable sleep solution for my almost two and a half-year-old daughter. That's when I discovered the My First Ready Bed inflatable travel bed - her "special blow-up holiday bed."

A Sleep Solution for Travel

Two of my friends had already tried this inflatable bed for their three-year-olds and highly recommended it for staying at friends' houses or with family. Intrigued, I decided to give it a try. I opted for the My First Ready Bed designed for 18 months to three years old.

Compact and Convenient

What impressed me the most about the My First Ready Bed is its portability. Weighing only 1.6-1.7kg, it easily fits inside a suitcase. The bed also rolls up and folds neatly inside its own carry bag. Its compact design allows for hassle-free transportation, whether you're throwing it in the boot of your car or taking it on a plane.

Easy Inflation

The standard version of the My First Ready Bed comes with a foot pump that makes inflation a breeze. Even for someone like me, who struggles with following instructions, setting up the bed took me no more than five minutes. Connecting the tube to the blue outlet on the pump and inserting the other end into the valve in the bed was straightforward. Just make sure the other part of the valve is closed to prevent any accidental deflation.

Fun for Your Little One

Watching me inflate the bed became a source of entertainment for my curious daughter, who found it fascinating. In fact, she was so excited to try it out that she crawled straight inside to test it and ended up sleeping in it overnight in her own bedroom. She loved it so much that she couldn't wait for me to inflate it again on our vacation.

Comfort and Safety

The My First Ready Bed features a raised horseshoe-shaped section around the head of the bed, ensuring that your child stays securely inside during the night. The bed also includes a small pocket for storing a book, torch, or spare item. Its removable and washable cover comes with a built-in blanket, providing warmth and comfort during sleep.

A Versatile Range

The My First Ready Bed offers various options to suit your child's preferences. From adorable owl designs to popular characters like Peppa Pig and Thomas The Tank Engine, there is a wide range of choices available. I personally adore the Gruffalo version, which can be found on Amazon.

The Verdict

After using the My First Ready Bed during our trip to Lanzarote and on subsequent occasions, I can confidently say that it is worth its weight in gold. It kept my daughter comfortable throughout the night, and she slept brilliantly each time. With prices starting from around £25, investing in this inflatable travel bed is a wise choice for any parent seeking a practical and comfortable sleep solution for their little one.
