A Trailblazer in Sports and Entertainment

Innovation has always been at the core of HOK's approach. In 1983, the firm established HOK Sport Venue Event, a subsidiary exclusively dedicated to designing sports stadiums, arenas, and convention centers. This move allowed HOK to tap into the booming sports architecture market and solidify its position as a groundbreaking force in the industry. The subsidiary later rebranded as Populous, continuing to shape the future of stadium and entertainment design.

Embracing Global Reach

As HOK's reputation soared, so did its global reach. The firm opened its first international office in Hong Kong in 1984, followed by London in 1987. In a significant expansion move, HOK merged with the renowned British architectural practice Cecil Denny Highton in 1995. Today, HOK operates in seven countries, including the United States, China, India, and Canada.
