Investing in today's booming stock market can be challenging. Undervalued dividend stocks are hard to come by, leaving many investors searching for alternative options. One such option is Fundrise, an online real estate crowdfunding platform that offers investment opportunities with the potential for passive income. In this article, we will explore the reasons why I am considering adding to my Fundrise investment and share my strategy for maximizing returns in 2020 and beyond.

The Current Stock Market Environment

The stock market continues to reach new heights, despite the economic uncertainties caused by the pandemic. Finding undervalued dividend stocks has become increasingly difficult. The S&P 500's crazy valuation, with a P/E ratio of nearly 30X, reflects the current state of the market. While the market continues to climb, investors like myself are constantly searching for investment opportunities to generate income.

Fundrise's Performance During the Pandemic

The pandemic has disrupted the economy and caused volatility in various sectors. However, Fundrise has proven its resilience, even during these challenging times. Founded in 2012, Fundrise has experienced exponential growth and now manages close to $5 billion in real estate holdings. The company took proactive measures, such as suspending redemptions and temporarily reducing dividends, to safeguard its investment portfolio.

Fundrise performance 2020

Fundrise's investment portfolio has shown steady growth throughout the first half of 2020, as depicted by its Net Asset Value (NAV). Despite the short-term dividend reduction, the company's dividend yield still averages 3.63% across all its funds. As an investor in Fundrise's income-focused fund, I have been achieving a higher dividend yield compared to other dividend-focused investments.

My Fundrise Investment Performance

Since I began investing in Fundrise in 2019, my investment has grown steadily. While the market value of my investment has not increased significantly, my focus has always been on the passive income it generates. The Real Estate portfolio, along with the Fundrise IPO investment, has produced consistent dividend income for me. With a dividend yield close to 5%, my investments in Fundrise have proven to be a slow, steady, and predictable addition to my portfolio.

My Fundrise Investment Strategy for 2020 & Beyond

As my overall portfolio continues to grow, I recognize the potential of expanding my Fundrise investment. With the limited options for undervalued investments in the stock market, I aim to maximize my returns by diversifying into high-quality assets that generate passive income. My strategy involves two components: an initial one-time investment and automated monthly investments.

In August 2020, I plan to invest an additional $200 in Fundrise. This investment will not only increase my market value but also boost my dividend income by approximately $9.40 annually. In addition, I have set up a recurring investment plan to contribute $100 per month to Fundrise. This consistent investment approach will gradually increase my position in Fundrise, ensuring it remains a sustainable part of my overall investment portfolio.

Fundrise Automatic Investment

Summary

By the end of this year, I aim to add $600 to my Fundrise account, significantly increasing my stake in the platform. Regardless of the stock market's performance, I will continue my monthly investments, confident in Fundrise's long-term potential. Automation will play a crucial role in ensuring a steady passive income stream and further diversifying my investment portfolio.
